Mercury joined the retrograde parade on the 18th of June. We have a serious introspective, backtracking energy at the moment. Somewhere in all of it, lies a feeling of, we will finally get to go on with life. Maybe, because we know Mercury will go direct in less than 3 weeks, maybe because deep inside we have a knowing that what goes up must eventually come down.
Anyway, getting back to Mercury in Cancer; he is the communicator, rules everything that moves, how we listen, think and process our information. Cancer rules family, home and care giving.
When a planet goes retrograde, we have a withdrawal of energy, an introspection. With Mercury we have all of that in communication. Me…? I like to look on the bright side. So, here is my take on it; I feel we need to go slow, take it as it comes, go with the flow, sit a bit with it, reminisce on it, find out where we must edit and put a fresh idea in place.
Elizabeth Gilbert replied on a question about feeling out of control: “Oh, don’t worry, the idea that you were in control before is an illusion, we are never in control!”
And that is a wisdom that we must carry with us at the moment. This is a non-diary year, I have 2… As if the Universe had to emphasise the fact for me, confirming that I cannot plan, I do not know when, how or if.
The word that came to me about 2020 way back in the beginning of the year, was preparation. So, this is a time to walk slow, breathe deeply, sit with yourself and listen with your inner ear to the inner Voice. It is like a retreat, for some a solitude retreat. A time to prepare for a new normal, hopefully better and yes, a lot surfaces in this time, frustration and anxiety are part of it.
Mercury retrograde is hectic this time, we will have to be kind and patient with each other. Talking from behind a mask, misunderstanding each other. My 59 old ears, depend on my eyes to read lips which is not possible at the moment. I feel lost when I am in town, not able to connect like with people properly.
Mercury retrograde; everybody hears, nobody listens.
Mercury retrograde; appointments are delayed or forgotten or misunderstood.
Mercury retrograde; internet, cell phones and electronics play up. Be mindful with it, pay attention where you put your phone etc.
Mercury retrograde; contracts need to be checked and re-checked, read the small print, ask questions, make very sure and expect a comeback.
Mercury retrograde in Cancer; misunderstandings with the family or… talking to them, making peace, enjoying conversation, planning get-togethers, hopefully soon.
Take care of paperwork, finish projects, re-consider decisions made before, go back to the drawing board.
Be conscious through the next 3 weeks, be slow to speak… a time to listen and meditate on matters and uncertainties.
We have a new Moon eclipse on Sunday the 21st, very close to this Mercury. An opportunity to set intentions for new beginnings, new plans and intentions. I will talk more about that later.
